Significant work has been done on Reykjavík Energy's new strategy in recent weeks and months. Initially, this was done through Reykjavík Energy's growth accelerator program with the involvement of staff across the company. KPMG led that work, and later, executives from the company, the boards of the parent company and subsidiaries, along with the company's owners, were involved.

Brand Redesign
"In line with the new strategic emphasis on a sustainable future, Reykjavík Energy gets a new look. The redesign of the brand is based on the new strategy and is intended to reflect it. Forward-thinking, a further emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and collaboration. These are all things that are foremost in our minds but are also important to our business partners," says Sævar Freyr.
To better reflect the emphasis of the new strategy, it was decided to redesign the brand. This redesign is based on the strategy, and the company Brú Strategy worked on it with us. The designer is Anton Illugason.
About the Redesign in General
Reykjavík Energy is a hundred-year-old pioneer. The story of Reykjavík Energy is a story of cooperation and foresight in Icelandic society, and the inspiration for the redesign was drawn from both its rich heritage and vision for the future. The new Reykjavík Energy brand is intended to be a symbol of a new era built on a strong foundation and is a catalyst for progress, innovation, and collaboration. The green colour foregrounds diverse energy and sustainability and positions the well-established company at the forefront of pioneering companies in a modern way.
New Brand
The inspiration for the new logo comes from Reykjavík Energy's movement and collaboration with its customers and partners. The logo is based on Reykjavík Energy's strong heritage, but the shape of the brand refers to older versions of the company's logos. Reykjavík Energy is a cornerstone and catalyst providing energy for enthusiastic customers and the community. The new logo is a symbol of this continuous movement.
New Name
The company's formal name will remain Reykjavík Energy, but in all content that comes from us, and in daily speech, we use the name Orkuveitan. The company's ownership is in such a way that Akranes and Borgarbyggð are in the ownership group along with Reykjavík, so it seemed natural to consider it. Reykjavík Energy is still serving and doing business with more municipalities than Reykjavík. The English name of the company will continue to be Reykjavík Energy.
